ICB Computerised Bookkeeping

 Description

This course forms part of the Foundation Level of both the ICB Financial Accounting and the ICB Public Sector Accounting programmes. It introduces students to the computer, windows, email and internet as well as a study of Microsoft Office as an accounting tool. Being able to keep the books of a business on a computerised accounting software package is essential for any bookkeeper. The course also includes an in depth study of dedicated computerised accounting using industry leading software packages.

Accreditation

Institute of Certified Bookkeepers as a Quality Assurance Partner of the QCTO.

Entrance requirement

Grade 10 (Std 8) or equivalent

No prior accounting knowledge needed

You must be at least 16 years of age.

Duration

This course can be completed in 3 months.

• Creating and setting up a company
• Create and maintain general ledger accounts
• Create and maintain supplier accounts
• Create and maintain customer accounts
• Create and maintain inventory items
• Take on balances and journals
• Supplier processing
• Customer processing
• Cash book, petty cash and journal
• Month end procedures
• Year end procedures

Assessment

This course is assessed by the ICB by means of a Portfolio of Evidence where you are required to complete Activities (assignments) and Evaluations (tests) and then complete a final summative assessment (exam) written at an ICB assessment centre. Please be sure to register for your assessment.

Award

This course is a short course as part of a national qualification. Once you have completed this course and the remainder of the level you will receive a national certificate.
