ACCA F1 - Accounting in Business

Description

This is the first course in the ACCA Qualification and falls under the Knowledge Module of the Fundamentals Level. The main aim of this course is to develop your knowledge and understanding of the business environment and the effect it has on how organisations and accountants operate. It addresses the role of the accountant and other key business functions in contributing to an efficient and effective organisation. On completion of this course you will have the knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of effective management.

Accreditation

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

Entrance requirement

Grade 12 with a good understanding of English and Mathematics.

If you do not meet the minimum entry requirements for this course, you will need to complete this course under the Foundations in Accountancy series. If you complete the Diploma in Accounting and Business in the Foundations in Accountancy series you will be able to transfer over to the ACCA Qualification, claim exemption from F1, F2 and F3 and continue your studies from F4 onwards. Duration

This course can be completed in 3- 6 months

Outline

• The purpose and types of business and how they interact with key stakeholders and the external environment 

• Business organisation structure, functions and the role of corporate governance 

• The function of accountancy and audit in communicating, reporting and assuring financial information and effective financial control and compliance 

• The principles of authority and leadership and how teams and individuals are recruited, managed, motivated and developed 

• Importance of personal effectiveness as the basis for effective team and organisational behaviour 

• All aspects of business and finance should be conducted in a manner which complies with accepted professional ethics and values 

Assessment

These course can be sat on demand, so when you feel ready to sit the exam you can do so at a two hour Computer Based Exam at a centre near you or if you’d prefer to do a paper-based exam you can do so in June and December.

A maximum of four courses can be taken per exam sitting. You will need to obtain 50% per exam in order to pass.

Award

This course is a part of a national qualification. At the end of this course you will be awarded a SACOB certificate of completion.
